Volunteer with Stand Up For Kids

Stand Up For Kids is an all volunteer organization, and we are in need of your support. For those who want to get involved in outreach, Stand Up For Kids will provide you with hands on training, and give you the tools to reach out and make a difference in kids lives.

  • Enrichment volunteers must adhere to a weekly/biweekly onsite commitment that enables direct interaction with the kids. You must be an open-minded thinker with a nurturing skill set.
  • Project volunteers do not have to deal with the kids directly. A project volunteer set’s up services and essentials for the organization.
  • Advocacy volunteers help to develop potential financial partners and volunteers for the organization, while also planning and coordinating fundraising activities.

Please tell us what type of opportunity you are interested in below.

Thirteen kids die on the street everyday, from abuse, disease and suicide. By getting involved you can make a difference and give back to your community. Volunteering is not only rewarding to you, it can save a kid’s life.

Testimonials:

Our connection with Stand Up for Kids began our senior year at Loyola Academy. We were involved in a justice seminar class that included a service component. After a couple visits to the drop-in center, it stopped feeling like a requirement for a class and began to feel like a family. Since the beginning, we have formed relationships with the youth and other volunteers that have made lasting impressions on us. It is for this very reason that after almost three years, we continue to go to Stand Up for Kids whenever we are home from college. We are immensely blessed to be able to do so. We are filled with joy every Monday night when we get to spend time with our friends at the center.

We talk together, we dance together, we play games together, we sing together, we laugh together, and we simply act like the kids that we are together. The center is a welcoming place where every talent is recognized and every new job or decision to go back to school is celebrated. We feel so honored to be a part of an organization that provides the much needed resources for these people to go to work or school, whether that be bus passes, clothes, or school supplies. Not only that, but we are so grateful to personally know these people who are making plans to do amazing things with their lives. Our time at Stand Up for Kids has been nothing but a positive experience for us.

It is one that we are thankful to share not only with the kids, but also with the amazing and ever-growing group of volunteers. They are endlessly supportive and always looking for ways to make an even larger impact on the community. Stand Up for Kids certainly holds a place in our minds and hearts outside ofMonday night. Every time we leave the center, we find ourselves beginning a countdown until the next visit. We are so incredibly lucky to have this opportunity to connect with these strong and talented people and help Stand Up for Kids be a bright spot in their lives.
